The 2019 Lightning Football Team completed a successful week of fall camp on Friday, August 16.  The Freshmen through Seniors spent much of the week together in various technique drills and installation periods.  The week also included a couple of days of strength training, picture day, and a "Grit Presentation" on Thursday by Dr. Cindra Kamphoff.  The presentation was interactive and was attended by all players.  The team also kicked off their Snap email fundraiser - resulting in raising over $8000 in the first 48 hours.  Thank you to all that have supported this endeavor.  The players and coaches hope to continue to build and improve as they look to the scrimmages at the end of week 2.  The freshmen will travel to Minnetonka on Friday to compete against Minnetonka, Champlin Park, and Rosemount while the 10th - 12th grade will travel to Prior Lake on Saturday to test themselves against the Lakers, Owatonna, and Mounds View.  Both scrimmages will begin at 9 am on their respective days.  Coach VandeBerg was quoted as saying, "I feel good about where we are at after the first week, but we have a long ways to go."  As always, we hope more athletes will decide to join the experience this coming week.  Player quote of the week goes to Henry Levon, "We ARE playing football!!"  Truer words were never spoken.  Make sure you check out the schedule for the week as there are multiple events:  Green Mill Fundraiser, Lightning Card Fundraiser, Leadership League elections, Grit Presentation, scrimmages, and the Kick Off Bash.
