One of the highlights of the Lightning Tackle Cancer Week is the dodge ball tournament.  The focus of the event is to raise more funds for the Randy Shaver Cancer and Community Fund.  The event is both fun and very competitive.  Teams consist of a combination of players from both Apple Valley High School and Eastview High School.  Players are divided by jersey number while coaches combine by offense and defense.  This year a teacher team also joined the competition.  On the adult side of the bracket the defensive coaches defeated the offensive coaches but were then, in turn, defeated by the teacher team.  On the player side there were many close contests that came down to the wire.  In the end the team of 90 jerseys came out on top.  The 90's were captained by EV Junior Brad Snyder and was comprised of fellow juniors Connor Wiberg, Nick Lombardi, and Allen Silva.  This team then faced off against the combined teacher team from EV/AV.  The teachers were led by Todd Hering, Kevin Engstrom, Dr. Todd Beach, and Ms Trejo.  The competition was fierce, but in the end, the 90's came out on top.  With almost a full squad returning they are the early favorites to repeat next year - a feat that has never been accomplished.
