On June 24, Lightning Football held its first skill development session open to all players in 9th-12th grade.  The session consisted of individual position meetings, dynamic warm-up, position agilities, individual drills by position, some schematic installation, and culminated with a brief 7 on 7 session.

At the conclusion of the day, Mitch Kieffer, former Lightning Football player and 3 sport athlete, spoke to the team.  Mitch was a running back on the first EV team to make it to the Dome in 2002.  You can read Mitch's story at http://rmd.me/6XEUp  .  He told his story and how his experiences shaped who he is and how he had to respond to adversity in his life.  Mitch emphasized what it meant to be part of a team and how to maintain balance in your life.

Our next session will be on Wednesday, July 1.  We will again gather at 8:00 at the weight room and follow the same basic plan.  Any athlete that missed the first session is welcome to join.  Find a football coach in the weight room on Thursday, Monday, or Tuesday and we will get them the necessary equipment.  It is important that each athlete is registered for Lightning Football Camp in order to be given their equipment.  A link is provided at eastviewfootball.com or eastviewfootball.org   (Register for Summer Football Activities link)

There is also a link on the website for those interested in purchasing workout gear.  The store will close this weekend but will re-open shortly after if this time does not work out.

Seniors met today with clothing rep to design a sweatshirt for the players.  Look for the order form to be available in the near future.

It also looks like we are close to a season motto as well.

Please enjoy your summer.  If you have a vacation- go and enjoy.  If you are in town encourage your son to participate in the appropriate weight room and skill development sessions.
