Wade Buckley

Wade Buckley

Varsity Head Coach

Wade played 3 years of Canadian Junior football with the Victoria Rebels as a MLB from 2007-2009. He became head coach of the Canmore Wolverines ifor five years beginning in 2014, leading the team to a Tier IV Provincial Championship in 2018 and earning Alberta Coach of the Year Honors. He came to Eastview in 2021 as an offensive assitant and took over as HC in 2023. This is his tenth season coaching football. He currently lives in Edina with his wife Alyson, daughter Sloane, and dog Zig Zag.


Jamey Wagner

Varsity Offensive Coordinator

Coach Wagner was born and raised in Apple Valley, and graduated from Rosemount High School in 1994.  He went on to play football at Minnesota State University, Mankato as a Quarterback and Wide Receiver from 1994-1996.  Graduated from the University of Minnesota with a B.A. in Sociology in 1999.  Coach Wagner has been involved with Eastview Football since 1997 as an Offensive Assistant, Special Teams Coordinator, and Offensive Coordinator.  He is currently a Social Studies Teacher at Eastview High School.  He lives in Apple Valley with his wife Katie and their 3 children Ashley (22), Maren (20), and Ryan (15)

Carlos Myles from St. Paul, Mn. Graduate of St. Paul Central High School. Bachelor's degree from North Dakota State University. Master’s in Educational Leadership from St. Mary’s University. Played football for North Dakota State University. 30 years working with youth. 25 years in education. Has coached Varsity High School football for 19 years at 10 different high schools. Married with two kids and two grandsons. Favorite food: Chicken Wings


Eric Vande Berg

Varsity Offensive Line

A native of Fort Dodge, Iowa Coach Vande Berg graduated from Central College (Pella, IA) with a degree in History and later received his Masters from the University of St Thomas. He played offensive line for the Flying Dutchman football team that went to the NCAA Playoffs 3 times during his 4 years. Coach Vande Berg is entering his 30th year of coaching which included started Apple Valley High School and St Olaf College before spending the last 25 at Eastview High School, where he teaches 9th grade Government and 11th grade AP World and European History. Coach Vande Berg and his wife, Jodi, have 3 kids: Jack, Benjy and Zoey.

Todd Frost

Coach Frost has been a Science and Technology Education teacher at Eastview since 2001. He grew up in New York Mills Minnesota on a dairy farm with his family. Todd went to college at Minnesota State University Moorhead where he graduated with a B.S. Degree in Biology and a teaching licensure. He student taught and coached at Hawley High School near Moorhead. Todd played football for the Dragons as well. Todd joined the Eastview staff out of college and coached Football and Wrestling for the Lightning. He has coached these sports since 2001. Coach Frost lives in Lakeville with his wife Shannon, 2 sons Cole and Aiden, daughter Isla and 2 dogs Vida and Penny. In his free time, you will find Coach Frost on the water both summer and winter. He also enjoys hunting and woodworking.


Evan Sandford

Varsity Offensive Line

Coach Sanford began coaching at EVHS in 2011 after playing four years of football at Columbia University. He is a 2006 graduate of EVHS where he also played football and track and field. At EVHS he has served as an assistant offensive line coach and as an offensive assistant. Outside of football he is a partner in a law firm in Minneapolis and lives in the Twin Cities with his wife and two daughters.

Coach Chad Wentzel is from Pipestone, Minnesota. He is in his 14th year assisting the Eastview football program. He is also a coach in the wrestling program. He graduated from Minnesota State University-Mankato and is currently teaching at Scott Highlands Middle School. Coach Wentzel played football at Dakota State University in Madison, South Dakota for two seasons. He is married to Julie and they have one child, Maddie, who is 13 years old. He enjoys spending time with his family and outdoor activities in his spare time.

Chadwick T. Harris (Chad), originally from Milwaukee WI, attended Milwaukee Lutheran High School. A three-sport athlete in high school (football, basketball, and track), he attended college at Concordia University, St. Paul, MN (playing football & basketball). Chad has coached at Football at Eastview for 10 years. "I am looking forward to working with and developing young athletes. GO LIGHTNING!!"

Coach Benson is the Varsity Cornerbacks Coach. Before coaching the varsity, Coach Benson has been coaching at Eastview since 2007. Coach Benson sells advertisement space for peer reviewed medical journals and healthy living magazines. Coach Benson is a 2002 graduate of Eastview High School, where he played football, hockey, and ran track. He went on to play football at the University of St. Thomas, where he also met his wife Jenn. He and Jenn live in Lakeville with their three children Brynn, Paige, and Dylan.


Anthony  Flemmons

Originally from Minneapolis, Anthony is in his 3rd season at EVHS, with four children (2 boys & 2 girls) who have all competed in high school athletics. He attended Washurn High School and Bloomington Kennedy, and earned his undergrad from the University of Colorado and Master's degree from St. Mary's University (MN). Coach Flemmons has coached boys and basketball for 15 seasons, from grades 3-9; volunteers at Special Olympics; and coached softball at Cannon Falls, travelling basketballs, and MYAS and AAU teams. Previously, he has coached football for seven seasons. He is currently a Special Education Teacher at EVHS.

Elmore Roundtree

“Coach Tree” graduated from Aiken High in Aiken, South Carolina where he was a four-sport athlete; playing football, baseball, basketball and track. He played DB and RB earning MVP honors his senior year. He went on to play baseball at Florida A&M and baseball and football at Bemidji State. He graduated with a bachelor’s in criminal justice in 1982. His coaching career spans thirty-eight years; including thirty-five seasons as a high school football coach in the metro area. He’s been employed as a Senior Probation Officer with Dakota County Community Corrections since 1995. He and his wife Alane have two adult sons, Alex and Aaron.

JV Head Coach

Kurt Habeck, a native of Winona, Minnesota, is in his 4th year as an administrator at Eastview after 28 years of teaching social studies. He continues to coach wrestling, football, and strength training. Kurt was a graduate of Augsburg College where he competed in wrestling and was a captain on the NCAA III National Championship Team. Kurt and his wife Shelly have four kids Hannah (28), Zachary (26), Erinn (22), and Luke (19). Kurt and Shelly are proud grandparents and enjoy watching their 3½ year old grandson Jace. When not involved with family or school related activities, Kurt enjoys spending time hunting, fishing, and attempting to stay physically fit.

Josh played 2 years of football and Track & field at Luther College, IA and he has 4 years of coaching football and Track. In football, has has experience coaching at the 6A and 5A levels, most recently at Apple Valley High School. Outside of coaching, Josh enjoys hiking with my dogs, Loki and Milli, hanging out with his wife, Bekah and his 6 month old Daughter, Kaia. "I am excited to be a part of the Lightning Family!"

JV Offensive Coordinator

Originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Turnar is joining the EVHS coaching staff for the 2023 season. Coach Kist played at the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota for 4 years as a tight end and receiver. Coach Kist graduated in 2017 with a B.S. in History and History Ed before completing a M.Ed in the Special Education Strategist Program, also from the University of Mary. Coach Kist has 6 years of coaching experience with stops at Southern McLean in Washburn, North Dakota, at Owatonna High School, and at Mound Westonka High School. Coach Kist will also be working at EVHS as a special education teacher.

Sam Goetz is Paraprofessional at EVHS, who also graduated from Eastview in 2014 and SJU (with a degree in education) in 2018 while playing football throughout. "I’m excited to be back on the field and help our players be the best they can be".

9th Grade Head Coach

Coach Beach has been a teacher and coach for 35 years. During his career he has coached middle school, freshman, junior varsity, and varsity football. He started his career coaching varsity receivers at Apple Valley High School where they won several Conference and Section championships throughout the 1990s and winning the state title in 1993. At Eastview, Coach Beach was a member of the original varsity staff and has coached offense, defense, and special teams at all levels.

9th Grade Offensive Coordinator

Coach Strey is entering his 8th year teaching, and 5th at Eastview High School. This will be Coach Strey’s 8th year in the Eastview Football program, mainly coaching 9th grade Defense, while also acting as the head Baseball coach in the spring. Strey is a 2012 graduate of Eastview High School.


Mark Groebner

9th Grade LB / Special Teams Coordinator

Groebner: Coach Groebner is entering his 24th year of being a teacher and a coach at EVHS.  He has been either a freshman or sophomore football coach at Eastview for 18 years.  He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Master’s Degree in Applied Kinesiology.  He played baseball for the Gophers from 1994-1998 and then played professionally in the Montreal Expos organization after that.  Coach Groebner currently resides in Apple Valley with his wife Jessica and their four children – Sam, Ellie, Mollie, and Gigi.
